BRIDGES Parent Information Evenings are valuable opportunities for prospective parents to learn more about how a Whole Child educational philosophy is implemented at BRIDGES as well as to have their questions answered. Sleep becomes the most craved and important need for parents. Parents long for and desire how to help their babies learn to sleep through the night. Parents tend to feel anxious with not knowing "the right" way to help their babies sleep better and longer. This class will teach you the approach that addresses the two main issues that prevent babies, who are at least 6 months old, from sleeping through the night:    1.    Reducing the caloric intake at night to shift those nutritional calories to the daytime 2.    Detaching the assumption from babies that when they wake up they need milk to go back to sleep.

This talented troupe continues to amaze audiences of all ages, bringing an all-new show to Thousand Oaks. The company of 21 represents some of the finest gymnasts and acrobats from China including many who have received gold, silver, and bronze medals in China’s national competitions. Astonishing athletes defy gravity and  execute breathtaking feats as they stretch the limits of human ability in this spellbinding show.  The show is a beautifully orchestrated presentation of Chinese circus acts dating back to harvest festivals of 2,000 years ago.  This modern day performance is enhanced by fabulous choreography, amazing lighting, enchanting scenery, and powerful music.

The Kids' Adventure Garden (KAG) was designed as an educational garden for children.  The KAG is part of the 33-acre Conejo Valley Botanic Garden.  The KAG provides an exciting place for children to learn about nature and gardening.  The garden features a tree house, zoo garden, carnivorous plant bog, nature trail and more.  Docents are available.  Free.  The KAG is also available for private birthday parties (reservations and donation required).  Walking shoes suggested.  Closed during inclement weather.

Monday, January 30 - New Mothers Breastfeeding Support Groups

Bring your baby to these special groups to share and learn in a friendly supportive atmosphere. Discussions are facilitated by lactation consultants and broach many topics including postpartum adjustment, feeding, burping, sleeping, gas and colic, normal newborn behavior, soothing fussy babies and breastfeeding. Classes are organized by the age of your baby: 0-4 and 4-8 months. Expectant mothers are encouraged to attend a complimentary New Mothers Breastfeeding Support Group of the 0-4 month group prior to giving birth. Additionally, there is no charge for the first 0-4 month New Mothers Breastfeeding Support Group you attend with your baby.

Tuesday, January 31 - Kids Club at the Sagebrush Cantina

The Sagebrush Cantina announces it will be hosting Tuesday night’s Kid’s Club, a local family community event offering free entertainment and activities geared toward families with kids ages 10 and under. The weekly Tuesday family night event offers activities such as face painting, gymnastics and disco dancing with a variety of featured entertainment which will include magic, reptiles, puppets, jugglers and bubble shows. During Kid’s Club the cantina offers families a Kids Eat Free special with one free child’s meal with every adult entrée ordered or a $3 kid’s special meal with drink. This five-week series covers important information you both need for a clear understanding of the process of labor and birth. Classes include interactive lectures on anatomy, an overview of labor, nutrition during pregnancy, false versus true labor, preterm labor and warning signs, simulations of and videos on the birth process, and natural pain management techniques including breathing and relaxation. This month...Keepsake Box The Home Depot's Kids Workshops offer useful projects including the creation of toolboxes, fire trucks and mail organizers, as well as more educational projects, such as a window birdhouse, bughouse or Declaration of Independence frame kit.

The workshops teach children do-it-yourself skills and tool safety, while at the same time helping to instill a sense of accomplishment. Additionally, this fun time allows for quality one-on-one time between adults and children.

In addition to the newly constructed project kit, each child receives a kid-sized orange apron, similar to The Home Depot associates' aprons, and an achievement pin.

Come learn interactive communication with your baby. Infant Massage is magic, loving touch that helps create a healthy bond between babies and their parents, grandparents, and caregivers. Massage helps improve communication and contributes to a baby's development. It helps aid digestion, strengthens the immune system, and helps a baby sleep more deeply. This Hot Topic will focus on colic, gas and relaxation techniques through massage. There will also be a discussion of the benefits of essential oils and how they correspond specifically to infant massage and the health of your baby.
