Our recipe is quick, easy, inexpensive, and utterly delicious—just the way we like it! Get ready for some fun in the kitchen and create memorable moments with homemade fortune cookies.
DIY Fortune Cookie Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 egg white
- 1/8 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 pinch of salt
- 1/4 cup unbleached all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup white sugar
Directions:
- Mix the egg white and vanilla until foamy but not stiff.
- Then sift the flour, salt, and sugar and blend into the egg white mixture - The batter should be just a little bit runny.
- Grease up a cookie sheet.
- Place teaspoons of batter onto the cookie sheet and using the back of the spoon to spread thin.
- Bake in the oven at 350 degrees for about 3-5 minutes or until the edges of the cookie are browned.
- Using a metal spatula, quickly remove cookies carefully. Place the fortune in the middle of the cookie and fold in half.
- Using the side of a soup bowl or mug, place the center of the cookie at the rim, bend it in to form shape and leave to cool - As it cools it will harden!

Interesting Note: A search for National Fortune Cookie Day shows it being celebrated on two different dates. In addition to September 13th, it's also celebrated on July 20th. The results were about 50/50, so why not celebrate both days? Twice the fortune cookies mean twice the delicious fun!
