Craft heartwarming snowman handprint keepsakes with your kids

By Anna Hall, Publisher Mom from Hickory, NC November 24, 2023

Embark on a heartwarming journey of crafting cherished memories with a simple and delightful Christmas activity! Explore the joy of creating personalized ornaments for your tree or as thoughtful gifts. Inspired by my 6-year-old's adorable creation from school, this easy Christmas craft is perfect for making with your kids, serving as a timeless keepsake for years ahead. Consider making it an annual tradition for an extra touch of holiday magic!

Materials needed:

  • Christmas ball ornament - your choice of color
  • white paint
  • colored permanent markers
  • paint brush

Instructions:

  1. Paint your child's hand white. You can choose to paint just the palm and the three middle fingers if you prefer.
  2. Put the colored ball ornament into the palm of your child's hand with the hanger on top; press fingers, slightly spread apart around the ball. For adults, place the ornament at the top of the palm right before the fingers start.
  3. Let the ornament dry.
  4. Add details like eyes, nose, mouth, hat, scarf, buttons, etc. with colored markers.
  5. Label the ornament with the year and child's - or adult's name.
  6. Hang on tree and enjoy! Or wrap as gifts for close family members.

There was a poem that came with the ornament.

It read as follows:

These aren't just five snowmen,

as anyone can see.

I made them with my hand

which is a part of me.

Now each year when you trim the tree,

you'll look back and recall

Christmas 2011

when my hand was just this small.
