In truth, no one can care for your child like you can. But modern families often choose to, or must, look for outside care. So the time to consider preschool has come for your child. Perhaps your little one has matured beyond the social or academic challenges your daycare provider can offer, or maybe grandma can no longer keep up with the boundless energy of your 3- to 5-year-old.
If that’s the case for you, then Conejo Adventist Preschool may be just the place you’re looking for. CAPS is a Christian early childhood education center located on the nearly-new campus of Conejo Adventist Elementary School in Newbury Park. They accept potty-trained 3- to 6-year-old children.
The CAES campus, built less than five years ago on a hill overlooking the Conejo Valley, features preschool through eighth grade. Jonalyn Cooke directs the preschool, which features a large classroom, a separate playground, and access to the school’s hot lunches.
“Miss Jona and all of the staff at CAPS gave Amaya a warm welcome,” says Justin Lofton, father of a 2011-2012 student. “Going to CAPS is now Amaya's favorite activity. We can't thank you enough!”
CAPS kids enjoy art, music, reading, science projects, gardening endeavors, outdoor play, and academic curriculum for pre-K students.
“We chose CAPS because it's a Christian facility; our son, Brayden, could be safe and learn our principles,” say David and Heidy Marroquin. “We highly recommend CAPS if you want the best education for your children. Miss Jona is a very talented woman and an excellent teacher.”
“I love Ms. Jona, because she is a good teacher,” Brayden says. “I learned so many wonderful things last year at CAPS. I can say thank you Miss Jona, because I can count, write many words, I know many songs. I know a lot of things!”
“Ms. Jona is a wonderful teacher; Christina loves her,” says Laura Coon, Christina’s step-mom. “Christina was nurtured in a structured environment, where she learned how to share with others. She is very ready for kindergarten as a result of Ms. Jona's dedication to her students.”
Conejo Adventist Preschool is affiliated with the Seventh-day Adventist Church, but is a Christian facility open to students of all faiths. Many current and former students are not Adventist, but instead came through referrals from friends, moms groups, etc. Classes begin Thursday, Aug. 16, but enrollment is open year-round (for those with later birthdays, potty-training delays, families new to the area, etc.).
