Pumpkin Painting - the Easy and Less Messy Halloween Option

Macaroni Made - Kid Approved

By Dana Hardek September 7, 2023
Halloween is a favorite holiday for many and not just for the tricks and treats! The decorating and pre-Halloween prep is also a big part of the fun - that includes the pumpkins. Carving pumpkin can be a lot of fun, but it can also be messy, time-consuming and not so easy, especially for the younger kids. Last year, I decided that our Halloween crafts should be easy to make – really easy. So I bought some paint, set up a table outside on a nice day, and let the kids paint their pumpkins.
If you, too, have no time to spend on the super-cool decorations that all your neighbors have, try this!
Macaroni Tip:  You can also add googly eyes and stickers for extra fun

Pumpkin Painting - How To

What you need:
  • Pumpkins - real or craft
  • Acrylic paint - more water-proof and will hold up to sprinklers or rain
  • Paint brushes
  • Cups of water to wash off the brushes
  • cloth or paper towels
What you do:
  1. If you're using real pumpkins, wash and dry them first.
  2. Set your pumpkins on a table or other surface.
  3. Paint! - See, easy!
Please note:  Remember that acrylic paint is permanent, so be sure to cover your painting surface and cover your kids while you're at it.
Optional:  For a shiny look, use metallic paints!
