No-Carve Easy Pumpkin Decorating

By Siobhan Brchnel September 7, 2023
Carving pumpkins for Halloween can be a fun family project - but it's not for everyone. Or maybe you just don't have time this year. Plus let’s face it. Not everyone is a fan of carving pumpkins. Whether it’s the ooey-gooey mess of digging out the "guts,” the challenges of the carving itself, or the worry that the little kids might get hurt, sometimes families choose to venture away from pumpkin carving and move towards pumpkin decorating.
There are lots of great ways to decorate your pumpkin in keeping with the Halloween spirit

Easy No-Carve Pumpkin Decorating

Here are a few ideas:

  • Use Mr. Potato Head pieces to create funny faces, complete with arms, hats and glasses - sometime you can even find special kits for pumpkins
  • Use googly eyes or craft foam to make eyes, noses and mouths.
  • Gather up stickers that have accumulated from all walks of life - party favors, coloring books . . .  and go crazy. Or use glue / modge-podge to adhere random pieces of décor.

  • Melt crayons and drizzle the hot, colored wax over the pumpkins or set the crayons on top and get out your hairdryer
  • Paint the pumpkins using acrylic paints - which hold up best to sprinklers and damp or rainy weather, puffy paints work well too.
  • Paint your pumpkin teal in support of the Teal Pumpkin Project.
  • Go pink for Breast Cancer Awareness
  • Use some glitter to glam up your pumpkin.
  • Wrap your pumpkin with stockings, fabric or yarn.
