Create these Easy Patriotic Candle Holders with your Kids to Decorate your Holiday Celebration

Make this super easy DIY craft with your kids using a recycled / re-used glass jar. Red, white and blue tissue paper creates this patriotic decoration for your holiday celebration! They are perfect for the 4th of July / Independence Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day or anytime you are in the mood to be patriotic.

Supplies:
  • Baby food jar - or any glass container you can rescue from your recycling bin
  • Red, white, and blue tissue paper
  • Glue
  • Paint brush
  • Battery operated candles - you can find these at your local dollar type store

Macaroni Tip:  Change the colors to suit any holiday or celebration

How to:
  1. Mix 1 part glue and 1 part water in small bowl. This makes a Modge Podge type glue. 
  2. Paint glue mixture on outside of baby food jar-or other glass container
  3. Apply tissue paper cut into small squares and stars in red, white, and blue. 
  4. Paint another layer of glue on top of tissue (feel free to apply liberally as the glue dries clear).
  5. Allow the jar to dry and then place battery operated candle inside.
  6. Enjoy your work!
Warning: These candle holders are not flame resistant and you should only use battery operated candle.
