I've taken my LEGO® loving boys to Brick Fest Live in Pasadena twice and we had a blast. There was endless fun and honestly we couldn't do it all - recomend getting there early. I have to share that I too am a bigtime LEGO® lover, I got my first set when I was about 6, 7 or 8, that I'm not so sure of, but what I do know is back then we had to build from scratch, there were no "sets," no instructions, no YouTube how-to like there is today. I will also confess that I've been known to frequent the LEGO® store all by myself, shh.
