In the wake of an unimaginable tragedy, the Iskander family’s world was shattered as their young sons, Mark and Jacob Iskander lost their lives while walking with their mother and brother in a marked crosswalk in Westlake Village, CA on September 29, 2020. The trial, which has had multiple postponements, is now scheduled for January 2024.
Amidst this profound sorrow, a steadfast community has come together to channel their anger and pain into positive action. A resilient community unites to transform grief into action. The Iskander family’s enduring grace and faith have inspired two pivotal announcements, bringing comfort and aid to countless children in need.

New Foster Family Agency for a Brighter Future
The Mark and Jacob Iskander Foundation, in partnership with The Good Shepherd Foster Family Services Agency, unveils plans for a new Foster Family Agency in the Westlake Village / Thousand Oaks area by year end 2023. This agency aims to provide vital resources and support to foster families, ensuring safe and loving homes for Ventura County’s children. Because of Mark and Jacob more of G-d’s children will have a home.

“Walk for Mark and Jacob Iskander” A Call for Community Unity
On September 29, 2023, please join the community in the “Walk for Mark and Jacob Iskander”
Themed “SLOW DOWN – SAVE LIVES,” this event commemorates the 3 Year Angel Anniversary of Mark and Jacob and promotes safe driving in our neighborhoods. This memorial walk for Mark and Jacob Iskander will begin at Three Springs Park where the boys used to play, pause at the crash site, and end at the park for a peaceful prayer.
We ask if you leave any item at the crash site, please leave an unused item to help children in foster care.
Participation in the walk is FREE
Sign up and contribute on the event’s website. Merchandise purchases and donations will support the New Foster Family Agency.

Local partners, including Slice House Pizza, Eastwind Screenprint and Nix Collection, contributed to this walk so ALL money raised from merchandise and pizzas goes 100% to the New Foster Family Agency.
