Description

“Reading “Round the Campfire!” is the theme for this year’s FREE Family Book Festival. Co-sponsored by the Simi Valley Public Library and the Simi Valley Friends of the Library, hit the trails with free activities, crafts, and prizes which celebrate the world of camping and the great outdoors. Joining us are the following community partners: City of Simi Valley’s Department of Environmental Compliance, BSA Troop 622, Rancho Simi Recreation and Parks District, Monte Vista Independent Learning Academy, Boys and Girls Clubs of Moorpark and Simi Valley and The Strathearn Historical Park and Museum.

Plus, meet and read to gentle therapy dogs and take selfies with a park ranger. At 11:00am meet Joe Cepeda, an award-winning illustrator of more than thirty children’s books as well as creator of images for magazines and other publications. He has also written and illustrated his own books including his newest, The Worst Camping Trip Ever! He will read from this book and demonstrate how to illustrate thoughts and ideas. His books will be available for sale and for signing.
