The largest symphonic event in Ventura County of the season, the program begins Brahm’s mighty Double Concerto for Violin and Cello, with guest soloists Martin Chalifour (LA Phil, USC) and Marek Szpakiewicz (APU). The Conejo Valley Choral Society then joins CYAS for a rare performance of Debussy’s Nocturnes, a mesmerizing work for Symphony and Female Chorus. The program closes with Gyorgy Ligeti’s “Atmospheres.” Composed by one of the most renowned writers of the 20th century, this work is an ethereal journey through sound which calls for over 50 individual string parts.
