Who loves Apples? If your family is like mine - apples are a household staple right along with the bananas, although apples keep longer and don't turn brown as quickly. No matter if your apples came from the grocery store, the local farmers market or your family just returned from an apple picking adventure I have some recipes for you to try. I've searched the Macaroni KID Conejo Valley - Malibu - Calabasas website for recipes we've shared over the years and gathered them all into one place for your convenience.
Apples really are a healthy choice for families. They are a nutritional powerhouse rich in dietary fiber, which promotes healthy digestion and can help manage weight. With their high antioxidant content, apples contribute to reducing the risk of chronic diseases like heart disease and certain types of cancer. They also contain essential vitamins and minerals, including vitamin C, potassium, and vitamin K. Moreover, apples have a low glycemic index, making them a great choice for maintaining stable blood sugar levels. So, bite into an apple for a delicious and wholesome way to support your overall health - you know what they say about an apple a day. I'm sure you already know they are a great option to include in school lunches or offer for as an afternoon snacks. One of my favorite things about apples is they are pretty hearty on their own and less messy than crackers or energy bars when you are looking for something to grab on the go or let kids eat in the car. Just don't put a bag of apple slices in your purse and forget about them like I did . . . yuck!
Macaroni bonus: I've also included some apple science, crafts and decorating for your family-fun.

Did you know? Apples are not just healthy and yummy, but they are incredibly diverse. With over 7,500 known apple varieties globally, they come in a wide range of colors, flavors, and textures. From the crisp and tangy Granny Smith to the sweet and aromatic Honeycrisp, there's an apple for every taste preference - what's your favorite?
Science fun with apples: Did you know that apples float in water because they are made up of about 25% air? This natural buoyancy is due to the air pockets found within the apple's cellular structure. So, the next time you have an apple and some water nearby, test is out and impress your kids with your science know-how!
Apple Tasting Activity: Apple tastings make a fun event for various ages. You can gauge the tasting for the age group. For moms, add a little cheese and wine. For preschoolers, keep it simple with only four or five types of apples. First, collect several varieties of apples. Include red, yellow and green apples to make the display more interesting - Click the link for full details.
Apple Tools: No matter if you are just preparing an apple for a snack or a recipe I highly recommend an apple slicer, an apple corer or both to make things a little easier for you.
Music to cook by: Apples and Bananas by Raffi. When my boys were little we listened to a lot of fun kids songs and our all-time favorites were anything by Raffi and "Apples and Bananas" always put a smile on their faces - mine too. Even if you kids are not so little they might enjoy this and dance along as the memories flood back.
