Thank you for your service! Today is Veterans Day and I'm grateful to not only our many veterans for their dedication and sacrifices they make for us, but also to their families. I'm also thankful for the veterans like my own father and my husband's parents who are gone, but not forgotten. My father served in the US Army stateside in-between wars and my husbands parents both served during WWII. His father was in the US Army serving overseas in Europe, although he was there as a soldier he happened to bring along his camera since he was also a photographer. We have many interesting photos he took during the war, but some of the most interesting are described in this Los Angeles Times article (you might not be able to view if you are not a subscriber), he didn't even develop the photos until years later. He told me took a photo of General Patton smiling, he was very proud of this since Patton was not known for smiling. Although my husbands mother was not a US veteran, she was a Veteran and served as a switchboard operator during WWII for the Royal Air Force in England before she met his father. The Holidays are coming! It's hard to believe it's already November and the holidays are just around the corner, some sooner than others. Yes, Hanukkah, I'm talking about you, I'm just not ready for you in November.
